Dr. Gilner is the new Chief of Neurosurgery at The Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass. He assumed his position on November 1, 2008.
Dr. Gilner's poem: The Indulgence Seekers was published in the July issue of Indulgence Magazine
Dr. Gilner's poem Danse Dolorosa was published in the Summer Issue of Health Magazine.
Dr. Gilner's poem "Identity" was published in the Poetry and Medicine section of JAMA, December 24, 2003.

Dr. Gilner has contributed to previous Krames/StayWell publications including
Lumbar Microsurgery, Cervical Disk Surgery, Lumbar Spinal Surgery, The Post-Op Back Book,
and many others.
Dr. Gilner received a Smoke Free Advocacy award from the American Cancer Society on June 15, 2006. Dr. Gilner is Founder and Chair of Smokefree Victoria. Smokefree Victoria and the American Cancer Society formed a coalition advocating for the passage of the Victoria Comprehensive Smokefree Ordinance. The ordinance was passed by the electorate with a 70% majority and now Victoria is a smoke free city prohibiting smoking in all restaurants, bars, and public buildings.
